How Spray Foam Insulation Iowa City Works

Spray Foam Insulation Iowa City insulates and air seals houses, rental properties, garages and outbuildings in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and the towns up and down the Corridor. We spray open-cell and closed-cell foam, blow in cellulose and fiberglass, and pull out old insulation that is wet, dirty or in the way of proper sealing.

Every job starts with a visit. We go into the attic, down to the basement or crawl space, and out to any garage or shop you want looked at. We measure what is already there, check its condition and look for the leaks that cost the most heat in an eastern Iowa winter: the rim joist where the house sits on the foundation, top plates, plumbing and wiring holes, chimney chases, recessed lights and attic hatches. We also point out anything new insulation should not hide, like roof leaks, damp wood, rodent damage or old vermiculite.

Then you get a written quote. Each area is listed with the material, the depth or thickness, the target R-value and the price. Foam is not the right answer everywhere. An open attic floor is usually sealed with foam and then filled with blown-in insulation, which costs less than foaming the whole thing. Rim joists, basement walls, steel buildings and cathedral ceilings are where foam earns its price. When two approaches would both work, we show both.

How we run a job

  • Measure first. No number goes on paper until we have seen the space.
  • Seal, then insulate. Bypasses are closed before they get buried.
  • Protect the house. Floors and belongings are covered and the work area is closed off.
  • Plan around the weather. Cold snaps affect when foam can go on in unheated spaces, so we set dates with that in mind.
  • No surprises. Work starts only after you approve the quote, and any change is agreed in writing.
